WE ARE
The mission of the PMO (Paymaster’s Office or Office for the administration and payment of
individual entitlements) is to provide a high-quality and user-friendly service to current and former
staff of the European Commission and most other EU institutions and agencies, by promptly and
accurately managing, determining and paying individual rights and expenses (e.g. salaries,
pensions, sickness insurance reimbursements and mission expenses).
PMO.8 is responsible for the coordination of general affairs and the support in shaping PMO’s policy
and ensure the coherence of its action. The unit’s key areas cover the management of PMO’s
human resources, legal and procurement files, internal control and risk management, knowledge
management as well as communication to PMO staff, Commission counterparts and stakeholders.
WE PROPOSE
A highly visible and challenging position of Head of the Sector “Knowledge Management (KM) and
Communication* in charge of PMO’s internal and external communication strategy covering all
PMO’s policy areas and activities, of PMO’s knowledge management strategy and also of records
management. In particular, the tasks are the following: – Provide leadership to the KM and
Communication Sector, create an inspiring and safe tear environment, ensure team members have
the competences and skills needed to carry out their duties; monitor performance under the
guidance of the Head of Unit, distribute resources with the sector in response to clients’ needs; –
Set-up, implement and oversee PMO’s internal and external communication for different PMO
activities, adapted to the diverse client portfolio of PMO; – Contribute to corporate communication
strategies and initiatives; – Ensure that the PMO’s intranet and other websites managed by PMO are
up to date and user-friendly; – Coordinate PMO’s internal communication network and knowledge
management community; – Oversee and contribute to the PMO’s knowledge management strategy,
to the maintenance of a coherent and complete knowledge management system for all the PMO’s
activities; – Provide guidance and support to PMO management and colleagues in ensuring full and
up-to-date documentation of PMO’s business process, procedures and work practices; – Ensure a
correct timely implementation of the records management rules, with the help of the Document
Management Officer of the PMO, member of the sector.
WE LOOK FOR
We are looking for one Administrator as “Head of Sector – Knowledge Management and
Communication Officer.”
The ideal profile for the job has:
* Proven experience in managing teams under pressure to meet tight deadlines;
* Proven experience in communication, knowledge management and/or records management;
* Proven experience in liaising with different stakeholders;
* A high sense of responsability, initiative and strong client-service orientation;
* Excellent organisational and planning skills;
* Excellent communication skills (both written & spoken);
* Fluency in English and French. Any additional languages would be an advantage.
