LIBER - EU Projects officer
Main responsibilities:
- Tasks would include:
- Contributing to work packages in which LIBER is involved
- Work on reporting to the EC for several projects
- Raising awareness through social media, workshops, conferences and other tools
- Promoting projects to the LIBER membership
- Implementing project communication plans and organising dissemination activities such as workshops
Person specification:
Essential Qualifications
- A first degree or equivalent qualification
Desirable Qualifications
- A higher degree, or its equivalent
- A project management qualification
Essential skills
- Knowledgeable about current communication tools, in particular social media
- Experienced in EU Projects
- Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously, prioritise a heavy workload and meet targets
- An excellent written and verbal communicator
- Fluent in English
- Familiar with current issues in research libraries
- Creative, flexible and with a demonstrable feeling for innovation
- Have a logical approach to problem solving
- Be able to work with minimum supervision
- Demonstrable team working skills
- Demonstrable interpersonal skills
Desirable Knowledge and Experience
- Understanding of one or more European languages other than English

In een informatiemaatschappij waar het Internet is uitgegroeid tot het belangrijkste medium, is het voor een openbare bibliotheek onmogelijk om afwezig te blijven. Velen gaven de voorkeur aan een pagina op de gemeentelijke website of hebben op zijn best een blog om hun publiek te informeren, maar de lezers zijn veeleisender. De bibliotheekwetgeving volgt dan ook deze evolutie. Welke content en diensten kan de openbare bibliotheek via een website aanbieden?
APPROACHES TO DIGITAL PRESERVATION PLANNING AT THE BRITISH LIBRARY

The British Library is increasingly a digital library. Over the past few decades, the British Library has built up significant collections of digital content, accelerated in recent years by the extension of legal deposit provisions to non-print works in 2013. The Library has invested heavily in developing scalable infrastructures for the acquisition, storage and management of large amounts of digital content and has approved a digital preservation strategy that is focused on the embedding of digital sustainability as an organizational principle across the whole organisation. This presentation will focus on the development of the Library’s preservation planning activities, which are intended to help manage preservation risks and challenges across all digital collection content lifecycles.

We kunnen er niet omheen kijken: de wereld en, als onderdeel daarvan, onze organisaties zijn in een informatie-revolutie terechtgekomen. Het “informatie-werk” verandert drastisch: informatieverwerkende systemen worden intelligent, meer en meer bedrijfsprocessen worden geautomatiseerd, en “social collaboration” is een vereiste geworden in ons dagelijkse kenniswerk. Informatie zal in bedrijven supernuttig en hyperkinetisch zijn, of zal niet zijn. In deze presentatie staan we stil bij deze (r)evolutie en haar “krachten”. Wat ons vooral interesseert is hoe we een passende visie op informatiebeheer kunnen definiëren, en welke radicaal andere informatiebeheerprocessen en -tools we zullen inzetten.

De lezing geeft een overzicht van een lopend onderzoek naar een methode voor het verkrijgen van informatie, waarbij we vertrekken van beelden die via het Internet toegankelijk zijn. In een relatief nieuwe methode om informatie op te sporen bestaat een query niet uit tekst maar uit een beeldbestand. De prestaties en het nut van twee zoeksystemen worden beoordeeld. Verschillende toepassingen worden geïllustreerd. Concluderend: het zoeken op beeld via het Internet is een opkomende, extra methode voor het vinden van informatie.
