APPROACHES TO DIGITAL PRESERVATION PLANNING AT THE BRITISH LIBRARY<\/h4>\n

The British Library is increasingly a digital library. Over the past few decades, the British Library has built up significant collections of digital content, accelerated in recent years by the extension of legal deposit provisions to non-print works in 2013. The Library has invested heavily in developing scalable infrastructures for the acquisition, storage and management of large amounts of digital content and has approved a digital preservation strategy that is focused on the embedding of digital sustainability as an organizational principle across the whole organisation. This presentation will focus on the development of the Library\u2019s preservation planning activities, which are intended to help manage preservation risks and challenges across all digital collection content lifecycles.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nous ne pouvons pas l’ignorer : le monde et, faisant partie de cela, nos organisations sont tomb\u00e9s dans une r\u00e9volution de l’information. Le \u00ab\u00a0travail de l’information\u00a0\u00bb change drastiquement : les syst\u00e8mes de traitement de l’information deviennent intelligents, de plus en plus de processus d’entreprise sont automatis\u00e9s, et la \u00ab\u00a0collaboration sociale\u00a0\u00bb est devenue une n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 quotidienne dans les m\u00e9tiers de la connaissance. La pr\u00e9sentation donne une vue globale d\u2019une \u00e9tude en cours au sujet d’une m\u00e9thode d’obtention d’information en partant d’images accessibles via Internet. Dans une m\u00e9thode relativement neuve de recherche d’information, il existe une requ\u00eate qui se base non pas sur du texte mais sur un fichier image. La performance et l’utilit\u00e9 de deux outils de recherche ont \u00e9t\u00e9 examin\u00e9es. Les diff\u00e9rentes applications sont illustr\u00e9es. En conclusion, la recherche par image via Internet est une m\u00e9thode \u00e9mergente et suppl\u00e9mentaire pour trouver de l’information.<\/span><\/p>\n
